TRENTON, NJ – This morning, as the U.S. Supreme Court began hearing arguments on a case that could overturn Roe v. Wade or render it meaningless, Governor Phil Murphy spoke out in support of the Reproductive Freedom Act (S3030/A4848). This bill, which was introduced in October 2020, would not only protect the right to reproductive health care in New Jersey, but would also expand access to birth control, prenatal care, and abortion by breaking down harmful barriers that prevent people from getting the health care they need. Governor Murphy was joined by Janyll C., a New Jersey resident who shared the story of her own abortion experience; Dr. Kristyn Brandi, an OBGYN who is the board chair of Physicians for Reproductive Health and a trustee of the New Jersey Abortion Access Fund; Alejandra Sorto of the ACLU-NJ; and Assemblywoman Mila Jasey.
