It was a significant day in the State House Monday, with some outgoing legislators taking part in their last voting sessions. It was also the last day to decide some key bills, notably one that would extend Gov. Phil Murphy’s emergency powers — and the hotly contested Reproductive Freedom Act, which would codify abortion rights in New Jersey. The latter sparked lengthy debates in both the Senate and Assembly. The bill passed both houses along party lines.
A vote on the emergency powers measure had not been taken at the time of this report.
